A guided drawing session encouraging participants to slow down and shift from simply looking to truly seeing
Hosted by Carolyn Parker and Susannah Pal
This gentle, guided drawing session invites you to slow down, reconnect, and experience the world differently. No artistic experience is required - the focus is on process and exploration rather than rigid expectations. Participants will be guided to explore the details of a small everyday object. We will set aside traditional single-point perspective drawing in favour of a range of techniques designed to help us move from passive ‘looking’ to a more engaged ‘seeing’. Together we will slow down, focus, and rediscover the benefits of quiet inquiry.
A few things you’ll need:
- A pencil, sharpener and eraser
- Paper – any kind you like, a few back of envelopes will do
- A small object – something with texture or interesting details (pepper, garlic, shoe, leaf…)
- An open mind – your most important tool!
Introducing Susannah Pal
Susannah is a trained art teacher and practising painter, with over a decade of experience teaching drawing in schools, community and professional development settings. Since 2011, she has helped people of all ages and backgrounds discover new ways of seeing through drawing.
In recent years, Susannah’s focus has shifted beyond traditional art education. She is increasingly interested in how drawing can support wellbeing, creativity, and resilience - particularly in contexts where people are navigating complexity or change. She works closely with clients to design sessions that meet their specific needs. She has worked with London Drawing, The National Gallery, TP Bennett, and Meta, delivering sessions both online and in person - whether as a one-off experience or a regular creative practice.
