Mayvin is a thought leader in organisation change, leadership and learning.  We’d like to tell you what we think you might benefit from paying attention to, as 2021 turns into 2022.

It is likely that, like many leaders, you are experiencing overwhelm. This may make it hard for you to have time to stand back, reflect and consider what matters amidst the cacophony. Our job at Mayvin, in support of you amongst our many friends and clients, is to help you sort the signal for the noise and pay attention to the perhaps less urgent but equally important things that will serve you and your colleagues. This selection of briefings is designed to do that.

These briefings will invite you to look differently. We want to speak directly to you, and help you see leadership not as another task on your long list, but as a facilitative process. Part of the leader’s role is to facilitate conversations that matter with your colleagues, and these briefings are designed to give you some material to talk about. They address key questions, such as:

  • How are we learning in the midst of the turmoil we face?
  • Beyond leadership and management, what is good practice
  • How do we develop new working patterns post the pandemic?
  • Beyond speaking truth to power, how can we get those in power ready to hear the truth?
  • In the light of BLM and the culture wars affecting business, how do we facilitate conversations that stay in relationship whilst emotionally charged?

We aren’t offering silver bullets, but helping leaders notice patterns and unfolding processes that may need attention. We call this ‘leading in the liminal’ because in this era, we are always at the edge. There is no end-state. Life and leadership are an ever-unfolding process, an ‘infinite game’ to quote the thinker Simon Sinek. In this world, everything turns on its head and the future will require us to take a different view, askance of the one we are used to. For many people this realisation provokes anxiety, and our response is to help you stay in relationship and find stability there, rather than in laminated rules and structures that refuse to remain stable, despite what they promise.

Ultimately, we see these briefings as an invitation to start a conversation. They are partial and offered tentatively, as a way of helping the conversations get started, as we believe that these will be helpful; they will help you and your colleagues stay in relationship and that is the best thing you can do to remain effective in the face of uncertainty. And we can always help you with that. We welcome a conversation, so let us know whenever you would like one. We will be here
